I’ve seen the Maybelline Skin Tint everywhere on my Tiktok. If you’re here reading this review, I’m sure you have too. I’m constantly on the lookout for the best skin tint. Natural looking glass skin is the ultimate weapon in any clean girl makeup look and I’m all over this trend. When Maybelline came out with their 24hr Skin Tint with Vitamin C, I was super excited to try it. I really like the idea of skincare infused makeup. So, did the Maybelline Skin Tint live up to its hype? Read on to find out!
What Is the Maybelline Skin Tint?
Maybelline’s website says the Skin Tint is a vitamin C infused, 24-hour staying power foundation that not only delivers beautiful skin-like coverage but also brightens the skin to provide a more youthful complexion. Designed to last all day long, this weightless formula resists sweat, humidity, and fading to help maintain that flawless finish for up to 24-hours. Now, I’m not going to put my skin through 24 hours of makeup (and I literally do not know anyone who needs to wear makeup 24/7) but I will wear this for one whole day and test it out for you to see if it lives up to its claims.
Shade Range
The Maybelline Skin Tint comes in 20 shades (well, in Australia anyway) ranging from light to dark. I found that a lot of drugstores does not stock the full shade range. If you’re looking for a shade that you can’t find in the drugstore, check out Adore Beauty. They have all 20 shades! I got shade 31 which was a pretty good match for my skin tone. It was yellow enough for me so I’m happy with it. I’m usually NC35 in MAC for reference. I do think they need to bring out more shades to cover a lot more darker skin tones.
Formula and Ingredients
Let’s talk about the Vitamin C promised in the Maybelline Skin Tint formula. I’m unable to find the percentage of Vitamin C on the Maybelline website. I wouldn’t expect a high percentage of Vitamin C anyway since it’s a makeup product primarily and not skincare. However, it would be nice to see the percentage disclosed. I did go through the ingredient list out of curiousity. I saw Ascorbyl Glucoside (a stable form of vitamin C combined with the sugar glucose) towards the end of the ingredient list. This means there is probably not much concentration of Vitamin C in the formula.
That is completely ok with me because I have a ton of Vitamin C serums I still need to use up in my skincare routine. However, the Maybelline Skin Tint might not be for you if you want to see a huge difference in skin brightness. As for me, I did not see any difference in my skin brightness while I was using the Skin Tint.
Texture And Application
The Maybelline Skin Tint promises a weightless formula (and so it should be- it’s a skin tint after all). The texture is quite runny as it comes housed in a dropper glass bottle. Upon application, I can definitely say that it is lightweight, and I was able to blend it really well. I was quite surprised by the coverage. It covered up my freckles really well! I could also see my natural skin peek through a bit which was nice to see. It added a nice glow to my skin and I liked the way it applied easily.
Longevity of the Maybelline Skin Tint
Now, I didn’t wear this for 24 hours. While I’m all for a good review, I just cannot put my skin through 24 hours of makeup. However, I did test out the Maybelline Skin Tint for as long as I can wear, from 6:30am to 8pm. I’d say that’s a pretty good amount of time to really see how it holds up.
After a whole day of no touch ups, I’m happy to report that it did last well on my skin. I have oily/combination skin and I didn’t find the Skin Tint sliding off my skin at the end of the day or getting too oily. I was impressed by the long wear, and I believe it holds up to its claims.
The Girl Math on The Value
The Maybelline Skin Tint retails for $37.99 which I think is on the pricier side for a drugstore product. Thanks, inflation! I almost never buy any drugstore product full price as Priceline or Chemist Warehouse usually always have a sale on. I bought this for about $25 from Chemist Warehouse which is a pretty good deal. I’m more than happy to pay that price for this Skin Tint!
My Final Verdict on the Maybelline Skin Tint
Ok, drum rolls please! After a week of wearing the Maybelline Skin Tint every day, I’m giving it a big thumbs up. It’s the perfect Skin Tint for everyday wear, and it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on my skin. I also didn’t break out either, which is always a good thing. I would recommend the Maybelline Skin Tint if you are looking for a lightweight and light coverage foundation. However, I would not recommend it if you’re relying on it solely to brighten up your skin. Go get a separate Vitamin C serum, girl!
